Luka Garza is a professional basketball player who plays as a backup center for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Before the NBA, Garza played four seasons at the University of Iowa, where he won the Big Ten Player of the Year award twice.

After averaging an impressive 18.2 points and 7.3 rebounds in college, Garza declared for the 2021 draft, where he was selected with the 52nd overall pick by the Detroit Pistons. He only featured in 25 games in the 2023/24 season, averaging 4.0 points and 1.2 rebounds in 4.9 minutes per game.

Leading his team to win the DCSAA title game, Garza was averaging over 20 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocks per game as a senior. He was named Gatorade Player of the Year due to his performances and graduated as the school’s all-time leading scorer.

Luka Garza was drafted by the Detroit Pistons with the 52nd overall pick in 2021. After performing well in the Summer League, Garza received a two-way contract with the team. After his rookie season, the Pistons declined their club option, making Garza a free agent.

Garza then signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves and is helping the team in their quest to win the Larry O’Brien trophy.
