Marcus High School in his hometown, where he became a standout player and helped his team win two 5A state championships. In his senior season, Smart posted impressive averages of 15.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. After high school, he went on to play college basketball at Oklahoma State University from 2012 to 2014. Over his two seasons there, Smart averaged 16.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. In the 2014 NBA Draft, Smart was selected sixth overall by the Boston Celtics, where he spent nine seasons.
