Marcus Smart

Marcus Osmond Smart, born on March 6, 1994, in Flower Mound, Texas, is a basketball player for the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA as of October 2024. He attended Edward S. Marcus High School in his hometown, where he became a standout player and helped his team win two 5A state championships. In his senior season, Smart posted impressive averages of 15.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. After high school, he went on to play college basketball at Oklahoma State University from 2012 to 2014. Over his two seasons there, Smart averaged 16.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. In the 2014 NBA Draft, Smart was selected sixth overall by the Boston Celtics, where he spent nine seasons. During his time in Boston, he earned numerous accolades, including the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award in 2022 and three NBA All-Defensive First Team selections in 2019, 2020, and 2022.

Outside the NBA, Marcus Smart has achieved notable success in international competitions. Representing the United States, Smart won a gold medal in the 2013 FIBA World U19 Championship. He also secured a gold medal in the 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championship in Brazil.
