Master P's NBA career and his success in rap

Although he has been active in the music industry since 1989, Master P gained much fame in the mid-1990s. His hip-hop group TRU had a breakout album during this period, and Miller also achieved a lot of success as a solo performer.

By 1998, Miller was one of the most influential entertainers in the United States. With an estimated income of more than $56 million, Master P was one of the wealthiest people in the country. His net worth was estimated at $200 million back then.

At the peak of his career, the famous rapper decided to start playing basketball professionally. In 1998, Master P joined the Fort Wayne Fury in the CBA. He was a decent player but not exactly a superstar in the minor league.

Despite not being a standout athlete, Master P got a chance in the NBA. His career in the prestigious basketball league began in January 1999, when he joined the Charlotte Hornets' training camp roster for 10 days.

Miller's stint with the Hornets was relatively short, as the team released him on February 1. However, he scored seven points in an intra-squad scrimmage. Master P also appeared in two exhibition games against the Atlanta Hawks.

The famous rapper played eight minutes against the Hawks but failed to score a field goal. In those two games, Miller was 0-for-3 from the floor, but he hit both of his free throws. He also added two assists and a rebound as a Hornet.

After the Hornets released Miller, the Toronto Raptors decided to give the rap star a chance. Once again, he found himself on the training camp roster and played in an exhibition game.

Master P appeared in the Raptors' preseason contest against the Vancouver Grizzlies on October 18, 1999. The rapper scored eight points off the bench, helping Toronto blow the Grizzlies out 110-84.

Unfortunately, the Raptors released Miller before the regular season began.
