Max Christie is one of the newcomers to the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Los Angeles Lakers drafted him with the 35th overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft. The young Shooting Guard was a member of the Big Ten All-Freshman Team in 2022.


Through 41 games with the Lakers in the 2022/23 season, Christie averaged 3.1 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. He also shot 41.5% from the field, including 41.9% from the three-point range. In his early years, Christie attended Rolling Meadows High School in Illinois and played varsity basketball for the Rolling Meadows Mustangs. He was notable for his career high 51 points against Elk Grove Thundering Herd. During his school basketball career, he earned accolades like Illinois Gatorade, Player of the Year, News-Gazette All State Player of the Year and Chicago Sun - Times Player of the Year. He enrolled at Michigan State University and played collegiate basketball for the Michigan State Spartans. Throughout the 2021/22 season , he played 35 games and averaged 9.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 17 blocks and 18 steals per game. He shot 38.2% from the field, including 31.7% from the three-point line. During his college years, he was a member of the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. He is also notable for winning a gold medal for Team USA at the 2019 FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Brazil.


Christie will look forward to taking his team to a good postseason run in his sophomore 2023/24 season.
