The Houston Rockets defeated the visiting Memphis Grizzlies 120-118 on Monday at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. This is the second matchup between these top West teams in five days. Houston also won in Memphis on Thursday, 119-115.
Jalen Green matched his career-high 42 points to lead the Rockets to its fourth straight win. Green shot an efficient 72.2% (13-for-18, including 5-for-6 from the 3-point line). Amen Thompson finished with 19 points, 13 rebounds, and a season-high five blocks, while Alperen Sengun added 17 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.
For Memphis, Ja Morant bounced back with a 29-point performance after just tallying 12 points on Saturday against Minnesota. Desmond Bane added 25 points on 9-for-13 shooting (4-for-5 on threes). The Grizzlies committed 17 turnovers on Monday, with seven coming from Morant. They dropped to 5-5 in their previous 10 games.
Green and Sengun combined for 59 points (20-for-35 FG) for the second straight game against the Grizzlies. At Memphis, the Rockets duo also scored a combined 59 points on 23-of-41 shooting. Sengun finished with 32 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists, while Green contributed 27 points, three assists, and three steals on Thursday's win.

The Rockets are now 7-3 in their last 10 games. The victory also moved Houston (26-12) two games ahead of the 25-15 Memphis for second place in the tightly contested Western Conference. They will look to extend their current five-game winning streak when they visit Denver on Wednesday.
The Grizzlies followed their home loss to Houston with a thrilling 127-125 road win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday. Ja Morant had 12 points on 5-of-19 shooting but hit a pair of crucial baskets late in the game to seal the win. Memphis is on the second game of its four-game road trip. They play again on Wednesday for the first of two consecutive games at San Antonio.

The Memphis Grizzlies had a 12-2 run at the end of the first quarter to lead the Houston Rockets 30-23. Jalen Green had 11 points on 71.4% shooting (5-of-7) for Houston, while Ja Morant led his team with 10 points on 4-for-8 shooting (2-of-4 from the 3-point line).
By halftime, the Grizzlies' lead is cut to three, 60-57. Jaren Jackson contributed 10 points and Jake LaRavia scored 10 of his 12 points off the bench in the first half. For Houston, Green already had 22 points and Cam Whitmore contributed 10 points off the bench.
The Grizzlies entered the fourth period with a 92-87 lead. They extended their lead to double digits after Morant swished a 38-footer with eight minutes to go. Houston went on a 16-2 run of their own that quickly erased the double-digit deficit and led 107-105 with a little over four minutes remaining.
Down the stretch, Green's basket put the Rockets up 116-115. Morant turned the ball over in the following possession and Amen Thompson knocked two free throws with 8.1 seconds remaining to extend Houston's lead to 118-115.
After Morant missed a couple of free throws on the other end, Fred VanVleet calmly knocked two to nail the victory with 2.1 seconds left, 120-115.
