Memphis Grizzlies vs Philadelphia 76ers preview
The Grizzlies are coming off a dominating 122-99 win against the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday. Ja Morant had a triple-double of 26 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds. Memphis, though, hasn’t gotten off to the greatest of starts and hasn’t strung together two straight wins yet.
The team is dealing with a slew of injuries, including Marcus Smart (right ankle sprain), Desmond Bane (oblique strain) and Luke Kennard (foot). When the Grizzlies are at full strength, they are expected to be far better than their 3-3 record shows so far.
The 76ers signed Paul George in the offseason in the hopes of creating a Big Three alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. Neither George nor Embiid has taken to the floor yet and Maxey has been left with the responsibility of navigating through the start of the season.
With George and Embiid not expected to play Saturday as well, Philadelphia could have a tough time against Memphis. The Sixers are coming off of a 105-95 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday.
Memphis Grizzlies vs Philadelphia 76ers betting props
Ja Morant’s points total is set at 22.5. Even though he averages just 20.4 points to begin the season, he is coming off of his best game against the Bucks. Expect Morant to score more than 22.5 points against Philly.
With Embiid and George out, the bulk of the offensive responsibility naturally falls on Tyrese Maxey. His points prop is set at 30.5, which could be a bit too much against a Memphis team that restricted Milwaukee to just 99 points. Take the under here.
Memphis Grizzlies vs Philadelphia 76ers prediction
The oddsmakers don’t see the Sixers getting past their injury concerns in this game and neither do we. Memphis should cover the spread for a win. This should be a low-scoring game with the team total staying 223.5 points.
