During his playing career, Allen spent four years with the Heat. Playing as a power forward, Allen made more than 150 appearances in a Heat jersey, and he was part of the 03/04 Miami team that made it to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The 40-year-old moved into coaching back in 2014, and he spent four seasons with the Detroit Pistons. He headed to the Minnesota Timberwolves last summer, where he has continued to impress in an assistant role.
