Miami Heat vs Phoenix Suns preview

The Miami Heat’s uneven start has been largely due to their sputtering offense. They average 108.7 points per game, 23rd in the NBA, and ranked 17th in offensive rating with 111.8.

In their loss to the Sacramento Kings, they scored just 17 points in the third quarter, allowing the Kings to eke out a win. If the Heat continue to misfire, they could have a long night against the surging Suns.

Meanwhile, Phoenix Suns' offense under Mike Budenholzer is only slightly better than the Heat, ranking 16th in offensive rating (112.3). Despite the presence of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, Phoenix's offense hasn’t hummed yet.

However, the Suns have been impressive on the opposite end, a big reason for their five-game winning streak. Their 108.8 defensive efficiency is the sixth-best in the NBA. When their shots haven’t been efficiently falling, they have leaned heavily on their defense.

The hosts will test Miami’s execution offensive execution with their elite defensive play.

Miami Heat vs Phoenix Suns betting tips

Devin Booker had a rough-shooting night on Monday in the Suns’ 118-116 win against the Philadelphia 76ers. He went 3-for-18 and missed all six attempts from deep. He could be up for a big scoring night and go over his points prop of 25.5 (O/U).

Kevin Durant, meanwhile, is averaging 28.0 points in November and dropped 35 on the 76ers, including the game-winning jumper. He's likely going over his 23.5 (O/U) points prop.

Miami Heat vs Phoenix Suns prediction

The Suns have been elite on defense but could always explode offensively. If the Heat can drag them to a nip-and-tuck affair, they will likely win but allow the visitors to cover the -5.5 spread.
