Mikal Bridges is a professional American basketball player who plays for the New york Knicks as of May 2025. Born on August 30, 1996, Bridges was drafted 10th overall in 2018. He was initially selected by NBA team Philadelphia 76ers but was traded to the Phoenix Suns on the same night. In the 2021-2022 season, Bridges finished as the runner-up in the Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY) race. He was also named to the All-NBA First Defensive Team.

In the 2024 off-season, Bridges was part of a trade that sent him from the Nets to the New York Knicks. Bridges has yet to miss a single game in his five-year NBA career. After the 2024-25 season, Mikal Bridges held the active record for the most consecutive games played at 556, earning him the title of the current "Iron Man" of the NBA. In his NBA career, he has averaged 14.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game as of May 7, 2025

Mikal Bridges played college ball at Villanova University. In his first season, Bridges was a key player off the bench. Bridges led his team to the 2016 NCAA championship, marking the first title victory for Villanova since 1985. In his second college season, he upped his scoring average to 9.8 points per game, an improvement from his freshman year's 6.4 points per game.

In 2017, Mikal Bridges made the decision to extend his college career for one more year. In his third season, he improved his scoring average to 17.7 points per game, 43.5% from deep. Bridges won the Julius Erving Award for best small forward and led the Wildcats to the number two seed. He led the Villanova Wildcats to another NCAA championship, scoring a pivotal 19 points in the final. By the end of his college career, he scored 1,311 points, grabbed 504 rebounds and dished out 183 assists and won two NCAA titles.

Mikal Bridges graduated from Great Valley High School, in Malvern, Pennsylvania. During his senior season, Bridges was named to the first team All-State in Class AAAA in Pennsylvania. In the 2013-14 season, he averaged 18.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game as per his college roster.
