He played college basketball for the Ohio State Buckeyes from 2006 to 2007 after being named Ohio Mr. Basketball during his senior year of high school in 2005.
At Ohio State, Conley was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-Big Ten in 2007. He led the Buckeyes to the 2007 NCAA Tournament title game, where they lost to the Florida Gators. During his freshman season, Conley averaged 11.3 points, 6.1 assists and 2.2 steals per game. His smooth ball handling and distribution helped lead the Buckeyes' offense.
Mike Conley Teams
Conley has played for three NBA teams over his 15-year career so far. He spent the first 12 seasons of his career with the Memphis Grizzlies after being drafted 4th overall by them in 2007.
Conley was the starting point guard for the Grizzlies during the core "Grit and Grind" era from 2010 to 2017. He led Memphis to 7 playoff appearances including a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 2012-2013. Conley was an instrumental part of the Grizzlies' success with his floor leadership, defensive skills and consistent offensive production.
After over a decade in Memphis, Conley was traded to the Utah Jazz in 2019. With Utah, he reached new heights by being named an NBA All-Star for the first time in his career in 2020-2021 at age 33. During his four seasons with the Jazz, Conley helped lead the team to the playoffs in three years including a Western Conference Semifinals in the 2020-21 season.
Most recently, Conley was traded from the Jazz to the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2023. Conley's steady hand at point guard should help guide Minnesota to contending status in the Western Conference. In total, the veteran Conley has played for the Grizzlies, Jazz and now Timberwolves over his accomplished NBA tenure.
Mike Conley's Position
