In the second round of the 2021 NBA draft Mcbride was selected as the 36th pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder but was subsequently traded to the New York Knicks for Jeremiah Robinson-Earl. Miles Mcbride played college basketball for the West Virginia Mountaineers. McBride went to Moeller High School in Cincinnati and was a two-sport athlete playing basketball and football as a quarterback, however, he suffered a serious injury that kept him away from the sports for almost an entire year and as a result, he decided to leave football and focus only on playing basketball.
As a collegian at the West Virginia University Mcbride averaged 12.6 ppg and 3.3 apg with shooting 41.9% from the field over the span of 60 games. In his freshman year, McBride averaged 9.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. He further improved his game in his sophomore year and averaged 15.9 points, 4.8 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game and then decided to be in the 2021 NBA draft. On October 24, 2021, Mcbride made his official NBA regular season debut for the Knicks. Owing to his development as a player and great performances for the New York Knicks and their G League team, the Knicks extended McBride’s contract which was reported to be for 3 years and worth $13 million.
