Mo Bamba is the newest member of the LA Lakers. The Western Conference team acquired him by sending Patrick Beverley to the Orlando Magic on Thursday. This was a great move by the Lakers as it benefits them in multiple ways.

With the trade, the team successfully replaced Thomas Bryant, the player who was traded earlier in the day. Additionally, general manager Rob Pelinka saved more than $20 million in luxury tax with this move and generated a $2.7 million trade exception.

NBA fans have shared numerous reactions to this trade, including jokes about Austin Rivers, who had an on-court altercation with Bamba just a few days ago.

Mo Bamba is the newest member of the LA Lakers

Bamba, in his fifth season, has averaged 7.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in 40 games this season. The 7-footer will drastically improve the Lakers’ frontcourt and will be a great backup for Anthony Davis.

The center's length and 3-point shooting will also allow him to play alongside Davis. By having both players on the floor, Darvin Ham could move AD to power forward.

Bamba hasn't played in his last two games as he's currently serving a four-game suspension. The big man was suspended for his altercation with Minnesota Timberwolves guard Austin Rivers, who grew up in Orlando.

Naturally, many NBA fans joked that it was Austin who kicked Mo Bamba out of his city. Both Rivers and Bamba were suspended for the incident, but the Minnesota Timberwolves guard claimed that Orlando was his city.

"Orlando my city," Rivers said on his Instagram profile. "Ask around and actually find out. They don't mess with you there."

Rivers was suspended for three games without pay, while the newest member of the LA Lakers will have to sit out two more games.

The incident occurred during the Orlando Magic's 127-120 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Feb. 3. Mo Bamba spent 21 minutes on the floor, scoring 11 points and grabbing four rebounds.

More reactions from basketball fans

When the Lakers acquired Mo Bamba, they sent Patrick Beverley to the Orlando Magic. This will be Beverley's fourth team in just three years, which is what many fans joked about.

Some Twitter users even made a new meme that includes Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who recently watched LeBron James break his all-time scoring record.

One basketball fan wondered how many more trades Patrick Beverley could take.

There have been reports that the defensive-minded point guard could be traded to another team or waived by the Magic, which is not a good look for him.

It will be interesting to see how this trade plays out for the Lakers. The addition of Mamba should make them more competitive and help them make the playoffs.
