Orlando Magic big man Moe Wagner is one of 11 players who have been suspended from both the Magic and Detroit Pistons. This comes following Wagner’s altercation with Pistons guard Killian Hayes during the first half of Detroit’s 121-101 win over Orlando on Wednesday night.
Wagner has been suspended for two games for hip-checking Hayes, while Hayes has been suspended for three games for punching Wagner in the head. Nine other players from both teams have each received one-game suspensions as well for joining in on the incident. However, the suspension will likely hit Wagner as hard as anyone, as he is actually the lowest-paid player among Orlando’s regular 15-man roster.
Wagner signed a two-year, $3.6 million contract with the Magic on Aug. 23, 2021, with an average annual salary of $1.8 million. Wagner is currently in the final year of his two-year deal with the Magic, making $1.9 million this season. He is set to become a free agent in 2023.
Despite being the Magic’s lowest-paid player, Wagner has offered Orlando solid production. Wagner is averaging 12.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 0.9 steals per game on 49.4% shooting through 18 games this season.

Wagner has also started in 14 of those 18 games. The Magic have gone 8-6 with Wagner in the starting five. In contrast, the team is just 13-23 overall and 13th in the Eastern Conference.
So it seems safe to say that Moritz Wagner should be looking at receiving a substantial pay raise next summer.

Moe Wagner’s upcoming two-game suspension
As for Moe Wagner's two-game suspension, he will first miss the Magic’s upcoming Friday night game against Washington. The Magic then have a few days off. So the second game of Wagner’s suspension will not come until next Wednesday, Jan. 4, against Oklahoma City.
So assuming Wagner does not miss any time due to injury, he should be able to make his return to the court on Thursday, Jan. 5, against Memphis.
