Monty Williams became known after he won the NBA Coach of the Year in 2022. He was the head coach of the Phoenix Suns and led them to their first NBA Finals since 1993. Williams’ coaching and resilience made him an amazing head coach present in the league.

Born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, Williams played college basketball. He was an athlete at the University of Notre Dame. Williams made his appearance in the league playing for the New York Knicks. He played a total of nine NBA seasons as a player before retiring.

Williams started his coaching journey as an intern with the San Antonio Spurs. This was the year the Spurs won the 2005 NBA Championship. He also became the youngest head coach in the NBA. He got an offer for a three-year head coach contract for the New Orleans Hornets. His stint with the team earned him a 2-year contract extension before being stripped of his duties.

Now, Williams is signed to the Detroit Pistons as their new head coach.
