Nathaniel Robert Hinton, also known as Nate Hinton, is an American professional basketball player. As of November 2024, he plays for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the NBA G League. Hinton played for the Houston Rockets in the NBA during the 2023-24 season but was waived by the team on October 19, 2024, according to Spotrac. He is currently an NBA free agent as of November 21, 2024. Hinton signed with the Cleveland Charge training camp roster, the Indiana Pacers, and the Dallas Mavericks between 2020 and 2023. Additionally, he has played for various NBA G League teams, including the Long Island Nets, the Santa Cruz Warriors, the Texas Legends, and the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, before rejoining the Vipers on October 27, 2024. Hinton went undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft but later signed a two-way contract with the Mavericks on December 1, 2020.

Hinton began his high school basketball journey at Forestview High School in Gastonia, North Carolina, before transferring to Gaston Day School. He later joined Northside Christian Academy in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he led his team to the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 2A title game. Hinton returned to the Gaston Day School for his final high school years, where he averaged 19.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, 7.7 assists, and four steals per game. He scored over 2,000 points during his high school career and was rated a four-star recruit by Rivals, ESPN, and 247Sports. Hinton attended the University of Houston in Houston, Texas, and joined the Houston Cougars men's basketball team from 2018 to 2020. He earned recognition as a Second-Team All-AAC selection in 2020 and was named to the AAC All-Rookie Team in 2019.
