2K Sports have announced LeBron James as its cover athlete for NBA 2K14, which is the latest edition of the popular basketball video game. It’s the first time that the Miami star has got a video-game cover with the franchisee.

More than 15 million copies of the game have been sold in the past three years and the latest edition is to be launched in October on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

2K Sports Senior VP of Basketball Operations Jason Argent confirmed the availability of the game on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and said, “We will be day-and-date launch titles for both of those platforms.”

However, it was also confirmed that NBA 2K14 won’t be coming to Wii U this year and said: “We are not doing a Wii U version this year,” he said. “We decided internally that resources were best put towards building a current-gen and next-gen game.” Argent also said that we can expect to see more on NBA 2K14 soon: “We will have some more to see and hear at E3 next week.”
