After playing 7 years with the Utah Jazz, Gordon Hayward was traded to the Boston Celtics in one of the blockbuster trades of the 2017-2018 NBA season. Playing alongside Kyrie Irving and a young Celtics core, the sky was the limit for the Boston Celtics and for Gordon Hayward. But only 6 minutes into the season opener against LeBron and the Cleveland Cavaliers, that dream plummeted to the ground when Hayward landed awkwardly on the hardwood after an attempted alley-oop off a pass from Kyrie Irving. He suffered a fractured tibia and dislocated ankle in his left leg sidelining him for the whole season.

Almost a year into his gruesome injury, Hayward has now recovered back well and will be making his return this coming season. Although the Utah Jazz got swept by the Golden State Warriors in the second round, Hayward was the pick of the players averaging 24.1 points, 6.1 rebound, and 3.4 assists while shooting a 44.1 percent from the field and an amazing 41.2 percent from beyond the arc. We and surely the Boston Celtics would be hoping for Hayward to return in the same kind of form.

While the inopportune injury might have something to do with his rating decreasing this year, Hayward is still one of the premier small forwards in the game. He is placed 6th on the top 10 current small forwards list in the NBA 2K19 with a rating of 88.
