NBA All-Star Celebrity Game

The NBA All-Star Celebrity Game has seen its fair share of memorable moments and standout performances since its inception. In its early two years, in the inaugural game in 2003 and the following year in 2004, the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game MVP was not awarded.

However, in 2005, the tradition of recognizing the most outstanding player from the celebrity game began. In the 2005 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, R&B artist Brian McKnight displayed amazing basketball skills on the court, and clinched the victory for his team with an outstanding off-balance shot when only 9.9 seconds had remained in the fourth quarter. This performance was the reason why first-ever Celebrity Game MVP was awarded to the multi-talented singer, songwriter, and media personality, Brian McKnight.

The following year saw another music icon, Nelly, taking home the coveted celebrity game MVP award. It wasn't until 2008 that a shift occurred when former athlete Terrell Owens made history by becoming the first ex-athlete to secure the MVP honor. T.O. went on to capture back-to-back MVP titles in 2008 and 2009, showcasing his competitive spirit and athleticism on the court. The NBA All-Star Celebrity Game reached wider audiences in 2011 when global singing sensation Justin Bieber won the MVP.

Then we come into the Kevin Hart era of NBA All-Star Celebrity games. From 2012 to 2015 comedian Kevin Hart dominated the court with his comedic flair and basketball skills, clinching an impressive four consecutive MVP awards. Most recently, in 2023, American football player DK Metcalf showcased his athletic prowess and versatility by claiming the MVP title.
