Beginning next Thursday, we will see the biggest sporting event of Basketball 2010. Its 2008 all over again. As time has swung back on the memories of 2008 finals, where the Lakers were swept in 6 games by a dominant Celtics, the result this time is somewhat in the dark. Both the teams have shown why they are here.
The Lakers have been strongly dominant the whole season and carried the momentum in the playoffs as well, albeit a few hiccups. With the entire team chipping in with valuable minutes as and when required, their leader has been chasing NBA greats as he displays excellence game after game.It can be safely said that when this is all over, we will look back at Kobe and say ‘ So what if he didnt win the MVP , he already has won one, and he is doing what matters the most, guiding his team collectively to another championship. No other superstar (except MJ) has shown this kind of zeal and talent. When Kobe retires, we will say he was the closest thing to MJ that happened,i.e until some one else justifies his title of the King. And in the ball lover’s field, the sole fact that Kobe has given Lebron a run for his money and title while Lebron is in his prime and Kobe is a veteran now is fact of greatness itself.’
As for the Celtics as a team, words fail. Could there be another beautiful example of team play, both offensively and defensively? They have played as a team, and they have won as a team. With a fit starting line-up of experienced and upcoming superstars, this Boston Celtics is for real. Where one man failed, all five came to the rescue. And they won, against Wade and Heat, against Lebron and Cavs. Now they face the ultimate test-The Mamba and his Lakers! Can they dazzle the court with superior setplays and coordination?Or will the mamba slither through the Celtic Defense with his natural elan? Only time will tell!
