NBA Finals matchup:what most missed!

Glen Davis

Glen Davis

Just who in the world had heard of Glen Davis? Of course , we were familiar with the term ‘Big Baby’ from 2008-09 ,referring to a particular big boned overweight giant of a person in green and white ,who used to come off the bench occasionally, just so that the rotation was in play. For the 2010 NBA finals, all the pundits went gaga over Kobe-Rondo, Allen-Pierce-Artest-KG-Gasol matchups! Why wouldnt they, its the superstars that matter in the finals right?Wrong, just as big baby proved it heads down.

Game 4 was a witness to sheer grit from the Celtic bench,so much so that even Rondo had to sit tight and bear witness to his benchmate Nate Robinson running the show. And speaking of Glen Davis, yes the lakers forgot a small piece of information in their pre-game plans- that he can play!!! And play he did, 18 points coming of the bench as the Celtic Bigs, KG,Pierce,Rondo looked on, and so did the Laker guards defending Nate and Davis.

While we might consider that Bynum was heavily missed for most of the match because of his dominant defense down-low, and also because Odom might be a near-7 footer, but his mindset is that of a point-guard.This was evident when for most of the match, Davis, being guarded by Odom, found ways to cut in to the hoop all the time ,as if he was invisible. And for a man of his weight and undersize, doing that is just commendable. Together with Nate, Davis and Celtics pulled off a remarkable series-leveler to put the pressure back on the Lakers.

So before the crucial Game 5, we ask again, who are the key players to this finals series? Anyone who saw Game 4 would say- Bynum for LA(fit or unfit, that kid has grits no doubt, watch his Game 2 performance), and the whole Celtic bench! The series just got highlighted!!
