The Dallas Mavericks shocked the Miami Heats by winning game 2 of the NBA finals. The Mavericks, who were thought to be the underdogs, are have now upset the odds by beating the overwhelming favourites.
It was a great comeback by the resilient Mavericks as they ambushed the Heats in the fourth quarter despite the favourites leading for the first three. Trailing by 15 points in the last 6 minutes, the odds were against the Mavericks overwhelmingly. They did their best at defense allowing Heats only 5 points. While at offence, Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, Shawn Marion, and Nowitzki nailed some jumpers to tie the score. With 10 seconds left on the clock, Nowitzki hit the winning shot stunning the American Airlines center, thus walking away with the Player of the Game plaudits for an outstanding performance. The Mavericks, down and out until the last 6 minutes had produced an extraordinary comeback.
“Keep believing” was what Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said and they did. At the end of the third quarter, Mavericks were nowhere in the game but if you have Nowitzki on your side you’ve always got chance to change the game. It proved to be true in the end.
With two games played, the series is now tied 1-1. The action will continue in the coming 5 games.
