#2 Alex Caruso is a commanding defender
Alex Caruso’s defensive impact came in handy for the LA Lakers last season, especially during the play-in tournament. He is an elite defender capable of guarding the opposition’s best ball handler and has the ability to conjure steals from thin air. Caruso produced 1.1 steals per game despite playing only around 20 minutes each game and is an important cog in the LA Lakers’ machinery.

Alex Caruso complements a Lakers roster that is top-heavy and is also an elite athlete capable of providing poster dunks regularly. The LA Lakers have relied on Caruso’s defensive impact throughout the season as well. This has been the case because coach Frank Vogel sees him as their top bench player and believes he is capable of making a regular impact on matches.

#3 Alex Caruso’s improvement in shooting
Apart from the energy and defensive impact that Caruso can bring regularly, the 2020-21 NBA season saw a hugely improved 3-point shooting performance from him. This in itself makes him completely deserving of an improved contract.
Caruso averaged only 6.4 points, 1.1 steals and 2.9 rebounds per game but saw a remarkable improvement in his 3-point shooting. He took 2.4 three-point attempts per game and got 40% of them on target. Caruso is one of the top defenders that the LA Lakers have and he is still going to be available on comparatively cheaper terms at the end of the season.
