Stephen Curry is out of his shooting slump, but the Golden State Warriors are losing games because of their subpar defense in the absence of Draymond Green. They have lost three of their last four games, including a loss to the undermanned LA Clippers. And the Warriors' losing record in the last week is why Curry has dropped in the MVP race.

However, he is steadily getting back his rhythm, and once the team is entirely healthy, he is expected to be the frontrunner of the award. He dropped 33 points on 8-of-13 shooting from beyond the arc in his last game.

#2 Joel Embiid

Joel Embiid is playing unbelievable right now, and no team has the power to stop him. He averaged 35.2 points per game last week while shooting 41% from downtown while grabbing a monster 16.5 boards a night. He isn't known for his playmaking but had 7 assists along with 2.5 blocks and 2.0 steals a game.

The Cameroonian is certainly rising in the MVP ladder, and if the Philadelphia 76ers climb into the top three in the East, he should be the frontrunner of the award. The Sixers are currently fourth with a 34-22 record.

#1 Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo played just one game last week, dropping a pedestrian 18 points and seven rebounds. The Milwaukee Bucks are down to fifth in the East with a 35-23 record and the Greek Freak is at risk of falling in the MVP race.

He could miss more games and the Bucks might continue to lose, but he was dominating the league until last week. One mediocre week shouldn't change the narrative around his campaign.
