NBA Draft prospect tears ACL

Charles Matthews looked impressive during pre-draft workouts, although the 22-year-old's prospects of getting drafted may have just taken a huge hit. ESPN is reporting that Matthews suffered a torn ACL during a workout with the Boston Celtics:

Former Michigan guard Charles Matthews suffered a torn ACL, his agent Adam Pensack told ESPN. Matthews, 22, suffered the injury at a workout with the Boston Celtics. Matthews will have knee surgery in his hometown of Chicago in the near future, Pensack said. A timetable for his return will be established after the surgery.

Matthews this season averaged 12.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game for the Wolverines. The 6-foot-6 shooting guard was expected to be selected in the second round of the draft, although the severity of his injury may result in Matthews going undrafted.
