#2. Tony Parker announces his retirement
Following an 18-year career, Tony Parker has announced his retirement. The 37-year-old explained his decision during an interview with The Undefeated:
I’m going to retire. I decided that I’m not going to play basketball anymore. A lot of different stuff ultimately led me to this decision. But, at the end of the day, I was like, if I can’t be Tony Parker anymore and I can’t play for a championship, I don’t want to play basketball anymore.

The Frenchman was selected 28th overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2001 NBA draft and during his time in San Antonio, Parker formed part of one of the best trios in NBA history. Alongside Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili, Parker helped the Spurs to win four championships, and he was also the first European player to win Finals MVP.
The point guard finishes his career averaging 15.5 points, 5.6 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game.
