Heading into the season, the Minnesota Timberwolves were expected to be among the few Western Conference teams that had little chance of challenging for a playoff spot. However, the Wolves have made an impressive 3-0 start to the new campaign, and ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that they will target a point guard as they look to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot:

They want to be a playoff team. I think they would love to upgrade that point guard position. If there's available point guards out there. They tried to get D'Angelo Russell in a sign-and-trade situation. You watch some of the other point guards who might become available this year, they'll want to become involved there.

Jeff Teague has started the season at point guard, averaging 13.0 points, 2 rebounds and 5.7 assists through three games. Nevertheless, the Wolves lost backup guard Derrick Rose in free agency and Teague himself just has a year remaining on his existing contract.

Kyle Kuzma missed the entire preseason after suffering an injury during Team USA's pre-World Cup training camp and the Lakers star failed to return in time for the new season. Nevertheless, despite missing the first four games of the season, Shams Charania of Stadium is reporting that Kuzma is now healthy - and could make his return this week:

I’m told Kyle Kuzma is essentially 100% healthy right now. He's got to work his way back into game shape, that’s the only hiccup right now. Just working himself back into game shape and his routine. I’m told he's targeting either Dallas on Friday, or San Antonio on Sunday for his season debut.

Following an impressive first two seasons in the league, Kuzma is expected to step up as the Lakers' third star this season. Last season, he averaged 18.7 points and 5.5 rebounds over 70 appearances.

Dion Waiters was suspended by the Miami Heat ahead of their season-opener after reportedly getting into an argument with head coach Erik Spoelstra. Without Waiters, Miami has made an impressive 2-1 start to the season although Tim Reynolds is reporting that the team has finally reinstated the 27-year-old guard:

Dion Waiters is back with the Miami Heat, although it remains unclear when he will make his on-court season debut. Waiters is on the inactive list for Tuesday's home game against the Atlanta Hawks, Miami's fourth contest of the season -- and the fourth that the shooting guard has missed.

While Waiters won't feature tonight, Jimmy Butler will make his much-anticipated debut after missing the first three games of the season due to the birth of his first child.
