NBA: Phoenix Suns level series 2-2

Lakers may have thought winning the first two matches in the western conference would make it a smooth sail but that never happens in the NBA. In all the four games both teams reached the three the digit mark. at last Phoenix overpowered the lakers final score Phoenix Suns 155-106 Los Angeles Lakers.

The Suns bench was the backbone of their win, Frye and Leandro Barbosa with 14 points each and Jared Dudley with 11. The trio hit 9-for-18 on 3-pointers. “I thought they were great offensively…and I thought they were better defensively,” Suns coach Alvin Gentry said.

Kobe Bryant with a game high of 38 points and 10 assist one would wonder how did the Lakers lose but that is because of coach Alvin Gentry who is the number 1 in the NBA. He used his bench and made very good substitutions which his reserves outscored the Lakers’ bench by a whopping 54-20. “They’re so unselfish,” Gentry said of his players

The Lakers defence was man marking Stoudemire, who scored 42 Sunday but was held to 21 in this game, “Their game plan tonight was to take me out,” Stoudemire said. Lakers offensively they are very good and they seem to have the best line up in this season with Odom, Gasol, Fisher, Bynum and the one man show Bryant. “We shot 49 percent, didn’t we? That’s pretty good…I have no problem with our offense at all,” Jackson said. “I wouldn’t say we’re struggling against the zone. We’re struggling at the defensive end.

Steve Nash played with a broken nose yet scored 15 points and 8 assist but today at the U.S Airways Center the suns played together as a team and as coach Gentry said, “It’s really different than most NBA teams. We’re more like a college team.

Phoenix

During half time the Suns led 64-55 with the Suns’ reserves again outscoring the Lakers’ bench 34-11. Frye scored 11, while only Odom (nine points). Bryant in the third quarter was unstoppable hit consecutive 3 pointers and narrowed the lead to 84-82. The last quarter Bryant didn’t get most of the ball and this made the difference as Lakers was depending too much on their star player, while Suns kept defending well making the away team and Phil think of solutions to get pass them.

These two teams will play till game six and it will be interesting to see how they fared with both of them now level, will the defending champions reach the finals for the second time or can the “Suns” make history.
