NBA Season 2010-11 Weekly notables: Week 2

- Suns vs Utah- Grant Hill pulled down a rebound, passed to Nash, and as the Jazz were jogging back on D, Hill sprinted down the court on the blindside of his man for an ally oop(layup). Commonplace occurrence? Well, Hill is 38 years old. 3rd oldest player in the NBA currently behind Shaq(by 7 months) and Kurt Thomas(by 1 day).

-Zach Randolph misses a game with a bruised ass.

Said coach Lionel Hollins: “That’s a bad place to have an injury. You don’t realize how much you move that tailbone when you’re playing and doing things.”

-New Orleans Hornets are one of the few undefeated teams in the league at this point. They got past Miami Heat to maintain that record. The game was close and it provided an answer to a long anticipated question, which is who is going to take the last shot for Miami when the game is on the line? The answer was Eddie House. And he bricked. Expect that to change.

- Suns make the notables list once again, behind a ridiculous double overtime game vs the Grizzlies. To recap, Memphis had a 98-94 lead with 3.7 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Then Richardson hits a 3, Rudy Gay of Memphis is fouled on the next possession and sent to the line where he makes the first and tries to miss the second so as to let time run out, but he accidentally makes the shot he tried to miss, and the Suns toss an out of bounds ally oop to J-Rich with 0.4 left, which he somehow guides to the bottom of the net. Great game.

- Potential rivalry alert. Miami aaannnd…Nets. The same nets with the worst record last season. Terrence Williams fouls James hard giving birth to the rivalry and had this to say:

“You’ve got to put your foot down somehow in a basketball game. When people are going to the hole and throwing behind-the-back and dunking and stuff like that you’ve got to do something about it. It’s nothing against LeBron. I’m a basketball player. I compete just like they do.”

LeBron’s reply:

“It didn’t send much of a message because we went on an 8-0 run after it. (Actually, it was 7-2.) We play New Jersey again? Just once? That’s awesome, I’ll be ready for it.”
