#2 John Wall - Washington Wizards - $38,199,000

In the summer of 2017, John Wall signed a four-year, $170 million contract extension with the Washington Wizards. Wall had just averaged career highs in points (23.1), assists (10.7), and steals (2.0), and the then 26-year-old was starting to establish himself among the NBA's best players.

However, since signing the biggest contract in franchise history, Wall has made just 73 regular appearances. The point guard will also miss the entire 19-20 season after rupturing his left Achilles tendon during a freak accident at his home.

Only three players will earn more money than Wall this season, and the guard is locked into his max deal until 2023. Miami has been named as a potential trade partner for the Wizards, and the franchise will be keen to offload one of the worst deals in NBA history.
