#1 Carmelo Anthony
Carmelo Anthony's ability to make a positive impact in the modern NBA has been intensely debated over the past year, although there is no doubting that he is the free agent with the most upside for a team looking to sign a veteran.
Anthony's performances with the Houston Rockets were widely criticized. However, the 10-time All-Star still managed to contribute 14.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. The 35-year-old also embraced his role from the bench and appears to have finally put his personal needs aside in order to prolong his career in the NBA.

Admittedly, Anthony is no longer in his prime. Although, Melo can still offer solid production from the bench. His desire to prove his doubters wrong also gives him plenty of motivation, and there is no reason why a playoff team shouldn't swoop for the former All-Star.
