NBA: Top 5 U-25 Point Guards in the League

John Wall

Point Guard (PG) or “ball handler” or “play-maker” is perhaps has the most vital role in the team when it comes to running the team’s offense and making sure the right person has the ball at the right time. The position requires huge intellect and understanding of the coach’s game plan and in this manner it resembles the “quarterback” position in American Football.

Here’s a list of PG’s who have been making an impact in the league with their game at a young age under 25:-

5. John Wall

His impact on the team can’t be judged based on the record of the team as he doesn’t have the help on the offensive end to make an impact on the league table.

However, he is an extremely talented player and is known for his speed and explosive athleticism. He started his rookie season showing off his skill and talent by becoming only the second player in the NBA to record 9 assists or more in each of his first three games.

He recorded his first triple double of 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 13 assists to go along with 6 steals and only 1 turnover on Nov, 10. He became the third youngest player in NBA history to record a triple double.

He was named 2011 NBA Rookie game MVP at the 2011 ALL-STAR weekend and finished second in the Rookie of the year voted behind Blake Griffin and was named to the NBA All Rookie first team.

After missing three weeks of action at the start of this past season, Kyrie returned to the game with a career high 41 points against NYK at the Garden to become the youngest player in the NBA to score 40+ points at the Garden, a year younger than when Jordan did it in 1985.

In his rookie season, he impressed everyone with his performance and earned the Rookie of the year award for 2012 along with MVP honors at the 2012 Rising stars challenge while playing for Team Chuck. Next season he was named for the East All Stars and also won the Three point Shootout trophy at the All Star Weekend.
