What's the rumor?

Bogdan Bogdanovic was reportedly offered a four-year, $50 million extension by the Sacramento Kings last month, although the Serbian is believed to be in no rush to extend his future with the organization, and is expected to test his value as a restricted free agent next summer. Nevertheless, James Herbert of CBS Sports is reporting that the Kings have no intention to trade the 27-year-old in the coming months.

The moment that Buddy Hield got his contract extended, it felt like Bogdan Bogdanovic's days with the Sacramento Kings were numbered. It might still be, but, as Fox deals with an ankle injury, Bogdanovic has made a case that he is too good to trade, barring an offer that blows Sacramento away.

In case you didn't know...

Bogdanovic was selected by the Phoenix Suns with the 27th overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft, however, he spent three seasons in the EuroLeague with Fenerbahce before finally making his debut for the Kings during the 2017-18 season. Now in his third season, Bogdanovic has appeared 164 times (70 starts) for the Kings, averaging 13.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in 27.8 minutes per game.

The heart of the matter

Bogdanovic has yet to start this season, and there is little doubt that he has outgrown a bench role. Over 16 appearances this season, he has averaged 15.3 points on 39.3% shooting from three-point range, and at 27, he is about to enter his prime. Due to this, Bogdanovic is likely to attract a much bigger contract than the four-year, $50 million extension that Sacramento offered, and the Kings risk losing the shooting guard for nothing in return next summer.

What's next?

Following back-to-back defeats, the Kings will be looking to get back on track when they face the Denver Nuggets on Saturday.
