Ware’s coach immediately got to him and the trainers covered up his broken leg with towels.
The Louisville team got back on the court in the second half and seemed to be motivated by their team-mate’s words as they dominated the Dukes. The Cardinals won 85-63 win over Duke in the Midwest Regional final.
The injury occurred with 6:33 left in the first half.
Ware, a native of the Bronx, New York, is a sophomore guard who has become a force on the no. 1 ranked Cardinals team during the NCAA Tournament.
Ware later underwent a successful surgery on his broken tibia. A rod was inserted into his leg and the wound caused by the bone protruding out was sealed. The entire operation lasted for two hours.
