New Orleans Pelicans vs Golden State Warriors preview

The Pelicans started the season with two wins against the Chicago Bulls and Portland Trail Blazers. However, they were dealt a disappointing 125-103 defeat by Portland on Sunday. McCollum led the team with 27 points, as Brandon Ingram and Williamson struggled to get going offensively with 14 points each.

New Orleans has a chance to get its season back on track against a Warriors side that will be without its best player in Steph Curry. The two-time MVP rolled his ankle against the LA Clippers on Sunday and was diagnosed with a left peroneal strain that will sideline him for at least two games.

Before Curry went down with the injury, the Warriors were enjoying a perfect start to the season. They went 6-0 in the preseason and were 2-0 to start the season. They finally lost 112-104 to the Clippers.

Golden State has a tough task ahead in the form of the Pelicans. However, with a deep bench, coach Steve Kerr will rely on his deep rotation to get his team its first win at home this season.

New Orleans Pelicans vs Golden State Warriors betting props

Zion Williamson’s points total is set at 22.5. He averages 21.5 points in eight games against the Warriors. Take the under here as Golden State has been great defensively so far this season.

Buddy Hield’s points prop is set at 17.5. While he averages 19.0 points in three games, he could be in for a down game. Without Curry on the court, Hield won’t get the usually open looks that he has enjoyed in his young career with the Warriors so far. So, bet on Hield to have under 17.5 points.

New Orleans Pelicans vs Golden State Warriors prediction

The Pelicans are slightly favored to beat the Warriors on the road. While New Orleans will miss the services of Dejounte Murray and Trey Murphy III, it still has a better Starting 5 than Golden State.

Expect the Pels to cover the spread for a win in what should be a defensive game with the team total staying under 217 points.
