New Orleans Pelicans vs Philadelphia 76ers preview
Zion Williamson made a return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves after a 27-game absence due to a left hamstring absence. Despite New Orleans’ 104-97 loss, Williamson had a good comeback with 22 points.
However, as the Pels played the second leg of a back-to-back on Wednesday against the Portland Trail Blazers, he was rested. He should play Friday, though.
The Pelicans suffered a 119-110 loss Wednesday. CJ McCollum had 23 points, while Dejounte Murray had 20. New Orleans has won just two games on the road this season. The team will desperately look to improve that number against the Sixers.
Philly has gained some momentum recently after a terrible start to the season. It is coming off of a 109-103 win against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday. Tyrese Maxey led the charge with 29 points, while Guerschon Yabusele had 21 points.
The Sixers will be without Joel Embiid (foot), so that could impact Friday’s result. Paul George (groin issue) is on the injury report as well but he is listed as probable.
New Orleans Pelicans vs Philadelphia 76ers betting props
Zion Williamson’s points total is set at 21.5. While he has played just seven games this season, he averaged 22.6 points in those games. Without Embiid to stop him at the rim, bet on Williamson to score 22 points at least.
Tyrese Maxey’s points total is set at 30.5. While he should be Philly’s primary offensive weapon, scoring more than 30.5 points could be too tough of an ask.
New Orleans Pelicans vs Philadelphia 76ers prediction
The Sixers are favored by the oddsmakers to get a win at home. We, however, predict an upset. Williamson should be able to power the Pelicans to their eighth win this season. Bet on the team total to go past 220 points.
