New York Knicks vs Atlanta Hawks preview

The Knicks made a couple of blockbuster trades in the offseason to acquire Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges. However, it also meant that they had to give up on Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo. While New York was expected to be a contender, the team hasn’t been great to start the season. This could just mean that the players are getting used to playing with each other.

Jalen Brunson and Co. suffered a 109-97 loss on the road to the Houston Rockets on Monday. New York’s starters had a great game where they combined for 96 points but the bench had just three. Houston’s bench, on the other hand, had 30 points, which tilted the game in its favor.

The Hawks are coming off of a blowout 123-93 loss to the Boston Celtics on Monday. The worrying thing for Atlanta is that it suffered a lopsided loss despite the defending champs being without two of their best players in Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis.

Trae Young exited the game with a right rib strain and didn’t return. He had just two points on 1-of-10 shooting. While the Hawks need to have a clean bill of health to be good, a lot of other things need to change as well for them to compete for a playoff spot in the East.

New York Knicks vs Atlanta Hawks betting props

Jalen Brunson’s points total is set at 28.5. He averages 26.0 points in six games this season. While he should have a good game, expect him to focus more on playmaking and stay under 28.5 points.

Trae Young is listed as probable on the injury report and should play on Wednesday. His points total is set at 24.5. Fresh off of an injury, Young could have trouble in having an efficient night in a game where he will be the primary defensive focus of the Knicks. Bet on the under here.

New York Knicks vs Atlanta Hawks prediction

The oddsmakers favor the Knicks and they should get the win in all probability. While both teams haven’t gotten their seasons to the best start, New York has looked like the better team. This should be a moderately high-scoring game with the total going past 225 points. Brunson and Co. should also be able to cover the spread.
