New York Knicks vs Philadelphia 76ers preview
Despite adding Karl-Anthony Towns before the start of preseason, the Knicks have been highly inconsistent to start the season. They are yet to string together more than two straight wins, which they have done just once. Most recently, they lost 132-121 to the Indiana Pacers on Sunday.
Brunson had 33 points and 10 assists, while Towns had 30 points and nine rebounds. New York’s starters had a great game, as they combined for 112 points, but their bench contributed just nine points. The Knicks simply need a more effective bench to be consistently good.
While the 76ers have gotten off to the worst possible start, they must be thrilled with Joel Embiid’s impending season debut on Tuesday. The former MVP missed the first six games with an injury and was suspended for the next three.
Philly got a hardfought 107-105 OT win against the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday. Paul George had just 15 points, but the team got superb bench efforts from Jared McCain and Guerschon Yabusele who contributed 27 and 20 points, respectively.
New York Knicks vs Philadelphia 76ers betting props
Jalen Brunson’s points total is set at 25.5, which is just under his season average of 25.0 points on the season. Bet on the under here.
Joel Embiid’s point total is set at 25.5. While the big man is usually good for anywhere near 30 points per night, he might be a bit rusty in his first game, so it will be safe to go under here.
New York Knicks vs Philadelphia 76ers prediction
The oddsmakers narrowly favor the Knicks in this Emirates NBA Cup game. Expect New York to cover the spread for a win, as Embiid might take some time to get used to life alongside Paul George. This should be a low-scoring game, with the team total staying under 215.5 points.
