Since being traded to the OKC Thunder in 2019, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has blossomed into an MVP-level talent. Following one of the most thrilling matchups of the regular season, the star guard made his feelings known about his future with the franchise.
On Wednesday night, the top teams in the two conferences squared off. What made this matchup between OKC and the Cleveland Cavaliers so special was their double-digit win streaks were on the line. The game did not disappoint, with the Cavs being the ones to walk away victorious.
Despite not being on the winning side of this epic showdown, SGA still felt good about his team and the Thunder overall. In regards to his future, the All-Star guard stated he doesn't seen himself leaving OKC anytime soon.
"I can only speak for myself. I love Oklahoma City and I can’t see a world where I’m not in Oklahoma City,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “I’m comfortable where I am. I like where I am. I love the people in the organization, love the people around me, and those are the things that matter."

Gilgeous-Alexander still has a lot of time left before he has to worry about possibly leaving OKC. He has two years remaining on his $179.2 million contract that he signed back in 2021.
SGA did everything he could to get his team over the hump against the Cavs, but it wasn't enough. The MVP frontrunner finished with a stat line of 31 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has one goal in mind with OKC Thunder
When Shai Gilgeous-Alexander first got to the OKC Thunder, they were still in the early stages of a rebuild. However, the franchise finds themselves in a much different position now.
Over the past few years, OKC drafted a pair of co-stars for SGA in Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams. Then, this past offseason, they bolstered the supporting cast in the form of Isaiah Hartenstein and Alex Caruso. With all these pieces, OKC has emerged as arguably the best team in the Western Conference.
When talking about his big-picture goals, Gilgeous-Alexander cited that winning a championship is his primary focus.
“I play this game to win championships, and that journey is all I care about,” Gilgeous-Alexander said.
“I can just be the best version of myself for my team to win a championship and have fun doing it every day. That's what really matters to me.”
Seeing that the Thunder have emerged as a dominant team on both ends of the floor, SGA is in a good position to achieve his goal of a title. As the team's top player, it starts with him. At the end of the day, OKC is only going to go as far as he is capable of taking them.
