Former University of North Carolina (UNC) player Danny Green is welcoming Bill Belichick as the new football team head coach with open arms. After finishing his 24-year tenure with the New England Patriots in the NFL, Belichick focused on rebranding himself and joined different projects in the media.

Belichick surprised everybody after he interviewed for the Tar Heels head-coaching position and much more after he sent a 400-page guideline that the team had to commit to. Now that the deal is done and he's set to debut next season, Green shared his thoughts on this move to TMZ Sports, having an exciting comment about it.

"I'm on board. I'm all about it. I think it's great."
"How often do you get a Hall of Fame coach to coach one of your programs?" Green said. "I think it can only be a good thing."

Seeing Bill Belichick coach in college football was unthinkable unit last week, but the eight-time Super Bowl-winning coach secured a deal that could have him back in the league even before starting his tenure in Chapel Hill.

The UNC football team hasn't been as famous or successful as the basketball squad, but Drake Maye, the No. 3 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, who was drafted by the Patriots, spent three years playing for the Tar Heels.

Perhaps this is a surprise for plenty of fans, but Danny Green is excited to see another legendary coach walking around his alma mater's campus.

Danny Green played under another all-time great coach at UNC

Danny Green had the chance to play under another legendary coach at UNC, Roy Williams. The coach led the team from 2003 through 2021, winning three national championships, including one with Green on the roster. In his senior year, he helped Williams take this team to their fifth national title while averaging 13.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.3 blocks in 27.4 minutes per game that season.

The 37-year-old attended UNC from 2005 through 2009 before entering the NBA as the No. 46 overall pick in the 2009 draft.

He went on to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, LA Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers and Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA, as well as having stints with the Erie BayHawks, Austin Toros, Reno Bighorns in the G League and even a short tenure with Union Olimpija in Slovenia.

After winning a title at UNC, he won three NBA championships before retiring from the game in October.
