Enes Kanter Freedom attended the second inauguration of US President Donald Trump on Monday. The former New York Knicks center joined celebrities, politicians and government personnel in celebrating the event inside the US Capitol. Kanter, who last played in the NBA following the 2021-22 season, received an invitation from Trump.
After the highly-anticipated event, Freedom wrote on X, formerly Twitter:

The No. 3 pick in the 2011 NBA draft, who is worth $40 million, per Celebrity Net Worth, has not played pro basketball for years. However, has been active on the political scene. He has become an outspoken activist who often criticizes personalities such as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Kanter became a US citizen in 2021, two years after the Turkish government reportedly sent an extradition request to his adopted country. The former basketball star and some members of his family have been accused of terrorism in Turkey.
The former Boston Celtics center praised America as the “land of the free and home of the brave” after becoming a US citizen. President Donald Trump, who won behind his slogan of “Make America Great Again,” (MAGA), invited Freedom to his inauguration as the 47th president of the United States.

A day before the inauguration, Enes Kanter Freedom attended the “Turning Point USA” ball. When asked by Fox News about what he expects with Donald Trump back as president, he responded:
“He’s gonna be tough on all the dictators out there. I said this over and over again, ‘America is back in the game.’”
The former Portland Trail Blazers big man prefaced his response by saying that he is “all about freedom.” He added that he is excited for the future of “freedom-loving” people, who he expects will benefit from Trump in office.
