The Houston Rockets and Miami Heat starred in more than a tough and close game on Sunday night.
Tyler Herro and Amen Thompson stole all the headlines after getting into a scuffle. They were both talking smack, and it ended with Herro being thrown to the ground.
Unsurprisingly, it didn't take long before Rockets legend Vernon Maxwell, who was known for his fiery temper, took to social media to voice his support for this. He went as far as offering to pay his fine:
"I love me some Amen Thompson. Put his fine on my tab Rockets. And I’ll take care of anyone else’s fine that stands up for their Rockets teammates," the former Rockets player posted.

"I love it!!" Maxwell wrote in a follow-up post. "Amen teach me some jiu jitsu young fella!"
Shortly after, Maxwell backpedaled. He claimed that he didn't want to send the wrong message, adding that his financial advisor told him not to make such a commitment. That's even though he's worth $4 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth:
"Also, after speaking with Coach Ime (and my financial advisor) we have decided it’s not the greatest idea for me to offer to pay all future fines for the team. I don’t want to send the wrong message. Instead for each Rockets win, I will donate $100 to a self-defense class for MGK," he wrote.
Vernon Maxwell trolls Heat fans and Tyler Herro
Maxwell was no pushover. He even got in the face of a fan and was suspended for 10 games and fined $20,000 because of it.
He's also been known for his antics on social media, constantly taking shots at the Utah Jazz and their fans.
That's why it wasn't much of a surprise to see him do the same with Herro, whom he mockingly called MGK because of his resemblance to Machine Gun Kelly:
"Hey Heat fans, 20 years from now, do you think people will remember that Miami won a meaningless regular season game or that MGK got ragdolled across the floor?" He wrote with a laughing face emoji.
Thompson isn't known for being a dirty player or a guy with a fiery character, so it was odd to see him react that way. Perhaps something out of line was said.
The league is yet to issue a punishment for either party here, but it seems like when they do, the money will come out of Thompson's pockets.
