It was a weekend filled with NBA brawls, the latest involving Amen Thompson and Tyler Herro during Sunday’s Houston Rockets vs. Miami Heat matchup. The fallout from the scuffle was significant, leading to six ejections.
With 35.7 seconds left in the game — just moments after Fred VanVleet’s ejection — tensions flared between Thompson and Herro. After an exchange of words, Thompson grabbed Herro’s jersey and brought him to the ground, sparking chaos as benches cleared and players and coaches rushed to midcourt.
The scene escalated with pushing and shoving, and after a thorough review, six individuals were ejected: Rockets coach Ime Udoka, assistant Ben Sullivan, Thompson and Jalen Green, along with Miami’s Herro and Terry Rozier.

The Heat went on to secure a 104-100 victory.
This brawl followed Friday’s altercation between Naji Marshall and Jusuf Nurkic during the Dallas Mavericks vs. Phoenix Suns game, where punches were thrown. That incident also resulted in ejections for Marshall, Nurkic and PJ Washington.
Marshall and Nurkic were later suspended for four and three games, respectively, while Washington received a one-game suspension — all without pay.
Tyler Herro shines despite ejection vs Rockets
Despite being ejected late in the game, Tyler Herro delivered an outstanding performance for the Miami Heat. He recorded a game-high 27 points on 10-for-17 shooting, along with nine assists, six rebounds and three 3-pointers.
Herro was a plus-13 during his 37 minutes on the court.
The Heat also received strong contributions from Nikola Jovic, who posted 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists off the bench. Haywood Highsmith added 15 points and eight rebounds, while Terry Rozier chipped in 14 points and five rebounds.
Bam Adebayo finished with a double-double, contributing 12 points and 10 rebounds.
For the Rockets, who suffered their second consecutive loss, Dillon Brooks led with 22 points. Alperen Sengun impressed with 18 points and 18 rebounds, while Jalen Green added 19 points and Fred VanVleet scored 16.
Suspensions appear likely for both Tyler Herro and Amen Thompson following their ejections. The Rockets will next face the Dallas Mavericks on New Year’s Day, while the Heat are set to take on the New Orleans Pelicans the same day.
