Dwyane Wade's wife, Gabrielle Union, once described LeBron James' significant other, Savannah James, as a woman with a "Midwestern ethic." The Wade Family is close to the James Family, with Dwyane and LeBron being good friends and former teammates with the Miami Heat.
Speaking to Vogue in 2017, Union was asked to describe Savannah. She talked about Savannah also hailing from the Midwest and knowing what kind of woman she is.
"She’s a woman who really has that midwestern ethic," Union said. "And I'm from the Midwest, so I know this. It's that you say what you do and you do what you say."

Union was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, before moving to California to study at UCLA. She then started her career in Hollywood, starring in films like "She's All That," "10 Things I Hate About You," "Bring It On" and "Cradle 2 The Grave," among others.
She moved to Florida when she started dating Wade, but the couple left the state in 2021 to return to California. Wade didn't want to live under Florida's anti-LGBTQ laws, which would affect his daughter, Zaya Wade.
Meanwhile, Savannah is also from her husband's hometown of Akron, Ohio. They were high school sweethearts, having their first kid when LeBron was a rookie in the NBA. The couple has three children and lives in Los Angeles.
Savannah and Union became closer when their partners became teammates with the Miami Heat from 2010 to 2014. LeBron and Dwyane went to the NBA Finals four consecutive times, winning two championships together in 2012 and 2013.
LeBron James once explained how he became friends with Dwyane Wade and the rest of the 'Banana Boat Crew'
The "Banana Boat Crew" is one of the biggest superteams that was never formed, featuring LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony. They teamed up during the 2008 Olympics as part of the "Redeem Team" but failed to do so in the NBA.
During an interview with ESPN in 2018, James shared how he became close with the rest of the members of his crew.
"I don't know, sometimes it's just chemistry," James said. "Sometimes you can't even explain it, and I bonded with Carmelo when I was in the 10th grade. I bonded with CP3 when I was in the 12th, and I bonded with D-Wade when we were both coming into the combine. Some things you just can't explain, and that's why we have our brotherhood."
Wade and Anthony are now retired, and Wade has been inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. James and Paul are two of the oldest active players in the NBA, with "The King" looking for his fifth ring and "CP3" mentoring Victor Wembanyama.
