Looking at Jimmy Butler’s future with the Miami Heat
Jimmy Butler, who turns 34 in September, is set to earn $48,798,677 this coming season and has a $52,413,394 player option for the following season.
NBA insider Shams Charania reported that the six-time NBA All-Star plans to play the next season under his existing contract with the Miami Heat and will not sign an extension with them or any other team before his opt-out clause in 2025.
According to Charania, the Heat had not looked at the possibility of trading away their star, who averaged 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists last season.
If he opts out and becomes a free agent next summer, Butler would be eligible for a projected four-year maximum extension worth $243 million with Miami or a maximum three-year, $171 million deal with another team.
Butler joined the Heat in 2019. This season, they lost to the eventual champions, the Boston Celtics, in the first round.
