A side-by-side look at Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum's performances during the Celtics' 2024 title run

Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum were both tremendous during the 2023-24 season. Tatum led the team in points and rebounds per game with 26.9 and 8.1, respectively. He also did a respectable job in finding his open teammates when defenses collapsed on him, averaging 4.9 assists per contest.

Not only was he an All-Star, but Tatum was also named to the All-NBA First Team for the third straight time in 2023-24.

Meanwhile, Brown averaged 23.0 ppg, which was the second-highest on the team. He also put up 5.5 rpg and 3.6 apg. However, he did not earn any personal accolades except for being named an All-Star.

Both players continued to put up incredible numbers in the Playoffs where they nearly steamrolled the Eastern Conference. Tatum continued to be the top scorer on the team, with Brown remaining as second on their way to the Finals.

In the Finals against the Dallas Mavericks, Tatum displayed his all-around game with 22.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game. Brown did the same, although to a lesser extent with 20.8 points, 5.4 boards and 5.0 assists.

However, Brown was more efficient at shooting the basketball. He made 44.0% of his shots on 16.8 attempts per game. Meanwhile, Tatum finished the series with a 38.8% shooting clip on 19.6 attempts per game.

Brown was also better on the +/- with 2.8 compared to Tatum's 1.2. Additionally, Brown also had the unenviable job of guarding Dallas' backcourt duo, especially Luka Doncic.

To his credit, Brown stepped up his defense and was able to make life difficult for Doncic, which was a deciding factor in the Celtics bringing home the title. For his efforts, Brown was named the Finals MVP.
