Alex Sarr made history even before the 2024 NBA draft began. He put on a cream-colored outfit in preparation for one of the biggest nights of his basketball career. The Frenchman wore a custom-made ensemble by Donatella Versace.

Sarr got the attention of spectators as he towered his way through the red carpet. According to the projected top pick, it's the first time that the designer had the chance to design an outfit for the NBA draft.

"That's a Versace suit, the first time doing an outfit for the draft," Sarr said. "Donatella designed it, and I think it really looks pretty good. I wanted some shiny buttons, something simple but just kinda staying out at the same time."

Having Sarr's outfit is a historic feat for the league as the designer is worth $400 million and took time to leave her mark in the world of American sports. Versace is mostly known for making designs for models, singers and actors around the world. But she made an effort to be involved in sports.

Sarr carefully selected his outfit for the night as his dreams of playing in the league were about to come true. Many expect him to be selected with the first pick, but stranger things have happened in the past.

Alex Sarr addressed why he didn't work out with the Atlanta Hawks

The projected top pick, Alex Sarr, didn't work out with the Atlanta Hawks during his predraft workout process. However, there was a report about Sarr and his camp not being interested in Atlanta. According to the report, the projected top pick would prefer to have the Washington Wizards draft him instead.

Ahead of the much-awaited event, Sarr addressed the rumor that he didn't want to play in Atlanta.

"I never said that I did not want to be there, you know," Sarr said. "I have a great team of agents around me. Atlanta saw me play this year in Atlanta when I was in OTE (Overtime Elite), so I don't think it is all about one workout.
"I am just saying that there is enough film out there for more than just one day of workouts."

Sarr also said that he's competitive and wants to be the first pick of this year's draft class. It's unsure whether the Hawks will choose him with the first pick or go a different route.
