Alex Sarr's NBA Summer League efficiency couldn't have gotten worse after Tuesday night's contest against the Portland Trail Blazers. Matching up against No. 7 pick Donovan Clingan, Sarr went scoreless on a dismal 0-for-15 shooting night. The second pick in the draft had off-shooting nights in his first two games, too.
He went 4-for-14 against the Houston Rockets and 4-for-12 against the Atlanta Hawks. However, Tuesday was a whole new low. The Wizards center couldn't create anything for himself, exposing his biggest weaknesses on the offensive end of the floor.
Sarr failed to convert his only two free throw attempts of the game, worsening his woes further. He had nine rebounds, three assists and three blocks, so it was good to see him keep up his confidence on the defensive end of the floor, where he's renowned for doing most of his damage.
However, Alex Sarr still faced NBA fans' wrath after that disastrous shooting game. He was drawing comparisons to the No. 55 pick, LeBron James' son Bronny James, who has been the most criticized rookie during the Summer League owing to his 22.6% field goal efficiency.

Alex Sarr needs tremendous amount of work on his offense to shine in the NBA
Alex Sarr produced one of the worst Summer League performances by a top-three pick. While it's common for players, especially rookies, to have such games, Sarr cannot let this one pass without addressing the need to work on his craft offensively. He looked out of sorts when he couldn't get going, struggling to create for himself efficiently. Sarr's decision-making was also poor.
He wasn't as alert about the Blazers' defensive positioning, struggling to read and react. At the NBA level, Sarr needs a competent offensive game to make an impact. He has the tools to be one, with a jump shot with potential, the size and the athleticism that could set him apart as a modern-day center.
He can build a reliable 3-point shot while also adding to his midrange game to not be in a situation he was in during Tuesday's contest. Sarr needs to maximize his tools to become a better roller and finisher at the rim.
