Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks secured a much-needed 123-119 comeback win over the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday to keep their playoff hopes alive.

They did so behind a masterful 19-point fourth-quarter performance from Irving. In total, he finished with 31 points, four rebounds, eight assists, two steals and six 3-pointers on a hyper-efficient 52.2/60.0/100.0 shooting split in 43 minutes.

Irving’s clutch fourth-quarter performance had NBA fans in awe, as the star point guard’s big night came as he has been fasting for Ramadan:

“I'm glad I got some food in me in the second half. Sh*t, I had to get it going. Excuse my language, kids,” Irving said postgame.

Following the game, many fans quickly took to Twitter to express their appreciation for Irving pulling through to carry Dallas to victory.

"All while fasting for Ramadan too," one fan said.
“Give this man his flowers for how he’s playing! Everyone is trying to say he’s the issue in Dallas with no evidence of that whatsoever,” another said.

Outside of Kyrie Irving’s clutch fourth-quarter performance on Wednesday, the Mavericks were also led by superstar guard Luka Doncic. Doncic finished with 29 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and three 3-pointers on 47.4% shooting.

Thanks to their superstar duo's efforts, the Mavs were able to overcome a 13-point third-quarter deficit.

The Sacramento Kings, meanwhile, were led by star point guard De’Aaron Fox, who finished with 28 points, five rebounds and eight assists on 38.5% shooting. Star big man Domantas Sabonis added a triple-double with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists on 72.7% shooting.

The game had much higher stakes for Dallas than for the Kings, who have already confirmed their spot in the postseason. The Mavs, meanwhile, are still battling to secure the final play-in spot in the Western Conference.

Following the win, Dallas is now tied with the OKC Thunder (38-42) for 10th place in the West with two games remaining. However, OKC owns the tiebreaker, so the Mavericls remains in 11th place for now. This also means that they need at least one more Thunder loss to have a chance at securing a play-in spot.

Irving and Co. notably ended their three-game losing streak with the win over Sacramento. However, they are still just 2-7 in their last nine games.

The Dallas Mavericks (38-42, 11th in the West) will next play on Friday against the Chicago Bulls (38-42, 10th in the East). The Sacramento Kings (48-32, third in the West) will also be in action on the same day and will take on the Golden State Warriors (42-38, sixth in the West).
