While Kevin Durant and Team USA completed an all-time comeback in what many consider to be one of the best international basketball games of all time, on Thursday, it didn't take long for Durant to log back onto X, formerly known as Twitter. There, as he often has done in the past, Durant went back and forth with basketball fans on social media.

Following the game, fans were quick to praise Serbia for their play despite the loss, with Nikola Jokic receiving considerable praise for his dominant play. When one social media user praised Serbia, saying that the whole country should be proud despite the loss, Kevin Durant was quick to respond.

In a simple response, Durant rhetorically asked the social media user, who is a credentialed NBA reporter, where he was from. The post caught the attention of fans given that it was made at 5 a.m. local time in Paris.

Several hours later, fans noticed a previous post from Durant made back in 2012 where he praised eight-time gold medalist Usain Bolt during the 2012 Olympics in London. In response, members of the NBA community began to use Durant's own line against him.

In response, fans were quick to call Kevin Durant out, accusing him of double standards.

"Where u from??" - One wrote
"All good to root for Usain Bolt but not Nikola Jokic? Whats the difference KD?" - Another added

Others defended the user called out by Durant:

"He just said the country should be proud dawg" - One wrote
"Where are you from??" - Another wrote, reposting Kevin Durant's 2012 tweet about Usain Bolt.

Others joked about Durant's late-night social media activity:

"Its like 5 am in paris and KD already cooking ppl on Twitter, this is generational" - One wrote

"YOUR TAKES DONT MATTER" - Kevin Durant responds to social media user in wake of Team USA's semifinal win

Kevin Durant's initial post questioning why a Nuggets reporter was praising Nikola Jokic and Serbia sparked a number of reactions among the NBA community, however, the two-time NBA champ wasn't done there.

Durant also found a post made by a social media user from Sydney Australia who questioned why Nikola Jokic's fans from the United States are being targeted and called out online.

In response, Durant took aim at the social media user, bringing up the topic of fan culture, idol worship, and the disrespect toward athletes. As one social media user explained, the hot takes, heated debates, and worship of athletes is something that was taking place long before social media.

Kevin Durant then responded, saying that social media has created a problem by allowing anyone and everyone to offer their opinion:

"That’s what yall do, yall clowns. Use players to push these corny agendas yall got. This a brotherhood fam, u not apart of. It’s a problem now cuz social media got u clowns walkin around wit your chest out like u mean something. YOU DONT!!! YOUR TAKES DONT MATTER"

The post appears to be the last one Kevin Durant made before logging off for the night. He and Team USA will then be in action on Saturday as they play France in the gold medal game.
