For years, James Harden was one of the most unstoppable scorers in the NBA. Nevertheless, despite the MVPs, scoring titles, and video game-like numbers, he also drew a reputation for not showing up in the playoffs.

Truth be told, that hasn't been entirely true. In fact, he led the Houston Rockets to a Game 7 in the Western Conference Finals back in 2018.

Unfortunately, his Rockets couldn't overcome a Golden State Warriors team led by Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant.

Those Warriors went on to sweep LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. With that in mind, former star Gilbert Arenas urged people to give Harden a break and give him his flowers for taking that team to the brink of success:

"We've seen what those four Hall of Famers did to LeBron James by himself. They whooped his a*s!" Arenas said on 'Gil's Arenas.' "Why isn't James Harden getting credit for taking these four to the brink?!"

James Harden sees himself in Gilbert Arenas' son, Alijah

Arenas seems to believe Harden doesn't get enough love, and it seems like the future Hall of Famer also happens to be a fan of Arenas' game, just not Gilbert's.

He recently raved about Gilbert's son, Alijah, claiming that he reminds him of a younger version of himself:

“I saw Alijah this summer, and he reminded me of myself in the sense that he played against pros while still in high school, and that’s how you improve,” Harden said. “You gain an understanding of the physicality, the skill set, and what you need to develop.”

Harden also offered to take him under his wings and mentor him along the way:

“I just spoke to him and said, ‘If you ever need anything, reach out, and we can train together. He’s a true student of the game.”

Alijah, like Harden, is also a walking bucket. Even so, he wants to be known for more than his scoring prowess:

“It's scoring,” Arenas told Forbes when asked about his best trait. “But I've actually thought about that and I really want to change that. I don't want it to just be scoring. I want it to be many other things. If you were to basically give an overview of me, I feel like all you have to say right now is scoring. I don't really want that headline.”

Alijah still has a long way to go to make it to the league. But under his father's and Harden's tutelage, he could become a prolific scorer.
